Water Festival and Shiny Magikarp Come to Pokemon GO

Still playing Pokémon GO? If so, you'll be happy to hear that a Water Festival event is taking place from now until March 29. The event, in correspondence with World Water Day, will give players an opportunity to catch a number of water Pokemon that might be otherwise hard to find. Water Pokemon will spawn much more frequently, but they will still be limited to areas where water Pokemon typically spawn.

Specific Pokemon that this event features include the starter Pokemon Squirtle and Totodile and their evolutions. Lapras is also getting special treatment as well as Magikarp and Gyarados. Although Magikarp might not sound very exciting at first, there will also be the potential to catch a Shiny Magikarp, the first official shiny in Pokemon GO.

Are you still playing Pokemon GO, or do you think it was just a trend? Are these kind of themed events enough to make you pull your smartphone out? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned for more Pokemon coverage!

I'm still playing but very quickly losing interest due to the uncontrolled massive amount of cheating. The blue team owns the majority of the gym's in every metropolitan area I play in and have a number of Pokemon per player I find it impossible to own already. I've also witnessed them Auto attacking gyms with no one around I'm guessing with a bot from a computer so where every time I would take a gym they would follow behind me and take it back when there was no one there. There was 6 gym's this was happening that and I just sat there and watched after I took it to see who it was that was coming back to take them and they were quite invisible and coincidentally always had something like a almost 3K Blissey, 3K Gyarados, or a 3K Dragonite to put in its place after I took it.
