Where to find TMs and HMs in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

Tips for Collecting HMS and TMS in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

  • It's recommended that you've collected all the HMs and have beaten the Elite Four before trying to collect all of the TMs.
  • Many of the TMs need to be purchased, so it will be very pricey to buy them all. We recommend you check out our ORAS Money Making Guide to quickly earn the much needed cash.
  • A few of the TMs require you to have both bikes at once. Check out our Guide to Getting Both Bikes to accomplish this small sidequest.

How to get HM01 - Cut in ORAS

Enter the house west of the Pokémon Center in Rustboro City and speak to the man here to get Cut.

How to get HM02 - Fly in ORAS

After completing the Weather Institute, defeat your rival (May or Brendan) in a battle and they'll give you Fly.

How to get HM03 - Surf in ORAS

After defeating the 5th Gym Leader, Norman, in Petalburg City exit the gym and a cutscene with Wally will result in you getting Surf.

How to get HM04 - Strength in ORAS

On Route 112 before riding the cable car to Mt. Pyre, you'll run into your rival (May or Brendan) and they'll give you Strength.

How to get HM05 - Waterfall in ORAS

Wallace will give you Waterfall after you defeat him in the 8th Gym in Sootopolis City.

How to get HM06 - Rock Smash in ORAS

After defeating Wally in Mauville City, his uncle will award you with Rock Smash.

How to get HM07 - Dive in ORAS

Steven will award you with Dive after you've defeated the 7th Gym Leaders in Mossdeep City, Liza and Tate.

How to get TM01 - Hone Claws in ORAS

Fly to Slateport City and head south to the market place. The traveling TM Shop is located at the northeast corner of the market. Speak to the shopkeeper and you can buy Hone Claws for 5,000.

How to get TM02 - Dragon Claw in ORAS

Fly to Meteor Falls and enter the cave. Cross the bridge to the west and use Waterfall on the first one you come across. Enter the opening to your north. Surf north across this pool and go down a floor via the ladder. Continue surfing north and enter the cave opening and you'll find Dragon Claw in a TM ball.

How to get TM03 - Psyshock in ORAS

Fly to Pacifidlog Town and enter the house to the southeast. Speak to the younger of the two men in this house to receive Psyshock.

How to get TM04 - Calm Mind in ORAS

After completing the seventh gym in Mossdeep City, Mossdeep Gym Leaders Tate and Liza will reward you with Calm Mind.

How to get TM05 - Roar in ORAS

Fly to Route 114 and head north until you see a Gentleman with a Poochyena. Interact with the Poochyena and the Gentleman will give you Roar.

How to get TM06 - Toxic in ORAS

Fly to Fiery Path and then enter the cave. Take the path to the west and use strength on the boulders. Take then north path from here to find a TM Ball containing Toxic.

How to get TM07 - Hail in ORAS

Fly to Shoal Cave which is located northeast of Mossdeep City (must be low tide from 3-9 A.M. or P.M.). Enter the cave and navigate down a few floors until you reach a layer of ice. Navigate and slide around on the ice layers here and make your way to the northeast section to find Hail in a TM ball.

How to get TM08 - Bulk Up in ORAS

After completing the second gym in Dewford Town, Dewford Gym Leader Brawly will reward you with Bulk Up.

How to get TM09 - Venoshock in ORAS

Fly to Mauville City and enter the Mauville Pokémart. Speak to the second clerk here and you can purchase Venoshock for 10,000.

How to get TM10 - Hidden Power in ORAS

Fly to Fortree City and climb up to the northeast and enter the second treehouse. Speak to the lady on the left and answer "Right Hand", "Right Hand", and "Left Hand". She'll award you this TM for your Hidden Power!

How to get TM11 - Sunny Day in ORAS

Fly to Route 120 and surf southward until you can enter the large cave. Inside what is known as the Scorched Slab, you'll quickly come across a TM ball that contains Sunny Day.

How to get TM12 - Taunt in ORAS

Fly to Slateport City and head north onto Route 110. Enter the Trick House a bit to the north and examine the top of the desk to find The Trick Master. Navigate through his puzzle using cut and you'll find a variety of goodies along the way, and the end of the puzzle you can speak to The Trick Master again and he'll reward you with Taunt.

How to get TM13 - Ice Beam in ORAS

Fly to Sea Mauville, you'll also need surf and dive to complete the puzzles here. You'll find Ice Beam in a TM Ball in the Storage Room on the outside of the ship. You'll need to head inside the ship first and complete a small puzzle to get all the room keys to get access to the Storage Room. Talk to people and check rooms to get the keys.

How to get TM14 - Blizzard in ORAS

Fly to Lilycove City and enter the Lilycove Department Store. On the fourth floor you can speak to the clerk to purchase Blizzard for 30,000.

HOW TO GET TM15 - HYPER bEAM IN ORAS

Fly to Lilycove City and enter the Lilycove Department Store. On the fourth floor you can speak to the clerk to purchase Hyper Beam for 50,000.

HOW TO GET TM16 - Light Screen IN ORAS

Fly to Lilycove City and enter the Lilycove Department Store. On the fourth floor you can speak to the clerk to purchase Light Screen for 10,000.

HOW TO GET TM17 - Protect IN ORAS

Fly to Lilycove City and enter the Lilycove Department Store. On the fourth floor you can speak to the clerk to purchase Protect for 10,000.

How to get TM18 - Rain Dance in ORAS

Fly to Sea Mauville and use surf to get aboard the ship. You'll find Rain Dance in a TM ball on the staircase on the deck.

How to get TM19 - Roost in ORAS

Defeat Winona, the 6th gym leader, at Fortree Gym and she'll give you Roost.

How to get TM20 - Safeguard in ORAS

Fly to Lilycove City and enter the Lilycove Department Store. On the fourth floor you can speak to the clerk to purchase Safeguard for 10,000.

How to get TM21 - Frustration in ORAS

With a very low happiness Pokémon leading your party (let it faint in battle or feed it herbs purchased in Lavaridge), fly to Pacifidlog Town and enter the southwestern building. Talk to the Fan Club Chairman's younger brother here and he'll give you Frustration.

How to get TM22 - Solar Beam in ORAS

You'll need both the Mach Bike and Surf. Fly to the Safari Zone (Route 121) and navigate to the far North by taking the western path. You'll need to surf across two small bodies of water to find the TM Ball containing Solar Beam.

How to get TM23 - Smack Down in ORAS

During the story, you'll get Smack Down from Professor Cozmo when you reach Fallarbor Town.

How to get TM24 - Thunderbolt in ORAS

Visit Wattson in his apartment in Mauville Hills (second floor of Mauville City, you must first talk to him by the statue in town to get elevator access). His room is in the south hallway. He'll send you on a quest to New Mauville to restore some power. Head south of Mauville onto Route 110 and surf east to find New Mauville. Choose to press the button on the computer in the back room. Return to Wattson in Mauville Hills and he'll give you Thunderbolt for all of your troubles.

How to get TM25 - Thunder in ORAS

Fly to Lilycove City and enter the Lilycove Department Store. On the fourth floor you can speak to the clerk to purchase Thunder for 30,000.

How to get TM26 - Earthquake in ORAS

Before catching Groudon or Kyogre in the main story line, make sure to pick up Earthquake in a TM Ball. It's on the bottom floor of Seafloor Cavern.

How to get TM27 - Return in ORAS

With a very high happiness Pokémon leading your party (keep it in your party or give it a massage), fly to Pacifidlog Town and enter the southwestern building. Talk to the Fan Club Chairman's younger brother here and he'll give you Return.

How to get TM28 - Dig in ORAS

Fly to Route 114 and head northeast to enter the Fossil Maniac's house. Speak to his little brother here and he'll give you Dig.

How to get TM29 - Psychic in ORAS

Fly to Victory Road and navigate it until you find a spot where you can surf from inside to outside of the cave. Psychic will be in a TM Ball on a patch of grass outside.

How to get TM30 - Shadow Ball in ORAS

Fly to Mt. Pyre and make your way to the very top (6th floor) and Shadow Ball will be in a TM Ball in front of a large grave.

How to get TM31 - Brick Break in ORAS

Fly to Sootopolis City (you'll need Surf once you get here) and navigate to the northwestern-most house in town. Speak to the Black Belt and he'll gift you with Brick Break, the TM he developed.

How to get TM32 - Double Team in ORAS

Fly to Route 113 and find the Trainer Tips sign. The TM Ball containing Double Team should be next to a nearby ledge.

How to get TM33 - Reflect in ORAS

Fly to Lilycove City and enter the Lilycove Department Store. On the fourth floor you can speak to the clerk to purchase Reflect for 10,000.

How to get TM34 - Sludge Wave in ORAS

Fly to Route 132 and surf to the south a little and enter around the center of the lower current. You'll hit an island with a Black Belt, stand next to the rock on the western tip of this island and let the current take you to a very small island with Sludge Wave in a TM Ball.

How to get TM35 - Flamethrower in ORAS

Fly to the Pokémon League and enter Victory Road from the north. Follow the bridges to past the Karate couple and go down a floor until you are in the dark. Navigate to the very east of this room and use strength on the boulders to clear a path to Flamethrower in a TM Ball.

How to get TM36 - Sludge Bomb in ORAS

Fly to Dewford Town and enter the house North of the Pokémon Center. Speak to the man in a backpack here and he'll give you Sludge Bomb.

How to get TM37 - Sandstorm in ORAS

Fly to Route 111 and head North to enter the desert (you'll need the Go-Goggles). Make your way to the southwestern tip of the desert to find Sandstorm in a TM Ball.

How to get TM38 - Fire Blast in ORAS

Fly to Lilycove City and enter the Lilycove Department Store. On the fourth floor you can speak to the clerk to purchase Fire Blast for 30,000.

How to get TM39 - Rock Tomb in ORAS

You'll get Rock Tomb in the main story line after beating the first gym leader in Rustboro, Roxanne.

How to get TM40 - Aerial Ace in ORAS

Fly to Mauville City and enter the Mauville Pokémart. Speak to the second clerk here and you can purchase Aerial Ace for 10,000.

How to get TM41 - Torment in ORAS

Fly to Slateport City and enter the Contest Hall. Speak to the sailor on the second floor and he'll give you Torment.

How to get TM42 - Facade in ORAS

Fly to Mauville City and enter the Mauville Pokémart. Speak to the second clerk here and you can purchase Facade for 10,000.

How to get TM43 - Flame Charge in ORAS

You'll need the Acro Bike (you can swap bikes at any time in Mauville). Fly to Jagged Pass and hop down the stones to the east and you'll find Flame Charge in a TM Ball.

How to get TM44 - Rest in ORAS

Fly to Lilycove City and enter the house near the stones to the east. Speak to the man here and he'll very sleepily give you Rest.

How to get TM45 - Attract in ORAS

Fly to Verdantuf Town and enter the contest hall. Speak to the girl by the couch and she'll give you Attract.

How to get TM46 - Thief in ORAS

Fly to Slateport City and enter the museum to the east (you'll have to pay the 50 entrance fee). Speak to the Team Magma/Aqua grunt and he'll give you Thief.

How to get TM47 - Low Sweep in ORAS

Fly to Mauville City and enter the Mauville Pokémart. Speak to the second clerk here and you can purchase Low Sweep for 10,000.

How to get TM48 - Round in ORAS

Fly to Mauville City and enter Crooner's Cafe on the west side of town. Speak to the lady behind the counter and she'll give you Round.

How to get TM49 - Echoed Voice in ORAS

Fly to Route 104 and speak to the younger in front of the Flower Shop. He'll give you Echoed Voice.

How to get TM50 - Overheat in ORAS

You'll get Overheat in the main storyline as a reward for beating Flannery, the fourth gym leader.

How to get TM51 - Steel Wing in ORAS

Steven will give you Steel Wing in Granite Cave.

How to get TM52 - Focus Blast in ORAS

Fly to Lilycove City and enter the Lilycove Department Store. On the fourth floor you can speak to the clerk to purchase Focus Blast for 30,000.

How to get TM53 - Energy Ball in ORAS

You'll need both bikes to get this TM. Fly to the Safari Zone. Enter and use your Acro Bike to climb the cliffs to the north. Cross the beams and come down the cliff on the other side. Surf across the body of water here and use your Mach Bike to traverse the incline and collect Energy Ball.

How to get TM54 - False Swipe in ORAS

Fly to Rustboro City and enter the Pokémart. Speak to the well-dressed man near the counter and he'll give you False Swipe.

How to get TM55 - Scald in ORAS

In Seafloor Cavern (fly to Route 128 and use Dive), head north to find the room with large boulders. Use Strength and Rock Smash to make a path to the northeast exit. Use Surf to ride the multi-directional currents until you reach the middle platform, which has a TM Ball containing Scald.

How to get TM56 - Fling in ORAS

Fly to Pacifidlog town and enter the house to the west of the Pokémon Center. Speak to the man in the house to get Fling.

How to get TM57 - Charge Beam in ORAS

Fly to Mauville City and enter the Mauville Pokémart. Speak to the second clerk here and you can purchase Charge Beam for 10,000.

How to get TM58 - Sky Drop in ORAS

Fly to Mauville City and enter the Mauville Pokémart. Speak to the girl in the back and answer "yes" to her question to get Sky Drop.

How to get TM59 - Incinerate in ORAS

Fly to Mt. Chimney and take the small path to the west of the volcano to find Incinerate in a TM Ball.

How to get TM60 - Quash in ORAS

Fly to Mossdeep City and enter the Pokémart. The girl in the back will ask you if you want a TM, respond "yes" to get Quash.

How to get TM61 - Will-O-Wisp in ORAS

Fly to Mt. Pyre and make your way to the summit. Will-O-Wisp is in a TM Ball on a nearby cliff.

How to get TM62 - Acrobatics in ORAS

Fly to Route 119 and climb up the nearby Waterfall. You'll need to use the Acro Bike (check out our guide to getting both bikes) to maneuver across the beams to find Acrobatics in a TM Ball.

How to get TM63 - Embargo in ORAS

Fly to Slateport City and board the S.S. Tidal to Lilycove City. Once on the ship, enter the first cabin to your south and speak to the Bug Catcher to get Embargo.

How to get TM64 - Explosion in ORAS

Fly to the Sky Pillar and navigate your way to the fourth floor by way of ladder. Climb down the west side a few floors to pick up Explosion in a TM Ball.

How to get TM65 - Shadow Claw in ORAS

Fly to Dewford Town and enter Granite Cave. Using the Mach bike, ride up the slope to the west and go down a floor. Follow the slopes and descend one more floor. Follow the small staircases and you'll reach a TM Ball containing Shadow Claw.

How to get TM66 - Payback in ORAS

Use the Eon Flute to summon Latios and Latias and soar into the Sky. Payback will be in a TM Ball on the southern-most star-shaped mirage isle. It will appear at random so check back daily.

How to get TM67 - Retaliate in ORAS

Defeat the 5th Gym Leader, Norman, in Petalburg to get Retaliate.

How to get TM68 - Giga Impact in ORAS

Fly to Lilycove City and enter the Lilycove Department Store. On the fourth floor you can speak to the clerk to purchase Giga Impact for 50,000.

How to get TM69 - Rock Polish in ORAS

Fly to the Jagged Pass and begin descending down the mountain. Continue south until you reach a fork between two wide dirt slopes; go down the one to the west. You'll need the Mach Bike to ride up a slope that leads you to Rock Polish in a TM Ball.

How to get TM70 - Flash in ORAS

Fly to Dewford Town and enter Granite Cave to the north. Speak to the first hiker you come across and he'll give you Flash.

How to get TM71 - Stone Edge in ORAS

Fly to Lilycove City and enter the Lilycove Department Store. On the fourth floor you can speak to the clerk to purchase Giga Impact for ????.

How to get TM72 - Volt Switch in ORAS

Defeat the third gym leader Wattson in Mauville City to collect Volt Switch.

Fly to Route 132 and enter the currents at the highest possible spot. Continue to do this until you get to an island with three trainers on it. Once again, enter the currents at the highest possible spot until you reach the end of the current. Speak to the Psychic here and you'll get Psych Up.

Fly to Mauville City and enter the Mauville Pokémart. Speak to the second clerk here and you can purchase Bulldoze for 10,000.

How to get TM79 - Frost Breath in ORAS

Fly to Shoal Cave which is located northeast of Mossdeep City (must be low tide from 3-9 A.M. or P.M.). Stay on the ground floor and go through the first two cave entrances you come by. You need the Mach Bike to traverse the dirt slopes in the next room and grab Frost Breath from the TM Ball.

How to get TM80 - Rock Slide in ORAS

Fly to Route 133 and enter the current to the west of the island at the very top. On the island with three trainers, enter the current at the highest spot on the west side. Surf from the top of the next island you arrive at. Follow the spiral path in the rocks and grab Rock Slide from the TM Ball on the small island.

How to get TM81 - X-Scissor in ORAS

Fly to the Pokémon League and travel south through Victory Road. Cross the bridge and ascend the nearby Waterfall to find X-Scissor in a TM Ball at the summit.

How to get TM82 - Dragon Tail in ORAS

Fly to Mauville City and enter the Mauville Pokémart. Speak to the second clerk here and you can purchase Dragon Tail for 10,000.

How to get TM93 - Wild Charge in ORAS

Fly to the Safari Zone and enter it. You'll need both bikes and Surf to progress. Hop on your mach bike and make your way west and north up the first dirt slope and to the west of the second. Continue North and surf east across the body of water here. Head east up the next dirt slope and continue south through the tall grass until you can see Wild Charge in a TM Ball on an above platform. Use your Acro Bike to hop on the log and claim your prize.

 

How to get TM94 - Secret Power in ORAS

You'll come across Secret Power during the story on Route 111. The man who introduces you to secret bases will also give you this TM so you can start making secret bases of your own.

Tips for Collecting HMS and TMS in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

  • It's recommended that you've collected all the HMs and have beaten the Elite Four before trying to collect all of the TMs.

How to get HM01 - Cut in ORAS

Enter the house west of the Pokémon Center in Rustboro City and speak to the man here to get Cut.

After completing the Weather Institute, defeat your rival (May or Brendan) in a battle and they'll give you Fly.

How to get HM03 - Surf in ORAS

After defeating the 5th Gym Leader, Norman, in Petalburg City exit the gym and a cutscene with Wally will result in you getting Surf.

How to get TM03 - Psyshock in ORAS

Fly to Pacifidlog Town and enter the house to the southeast. Speak to the younger of the two men in this house to receive Psyshock.

How to get TM04 - Calm Mind in ORAS

After completing the seventh gym in Mossdeep City, Mossdeep Gym Leaders Tate and Liza will reward you with Calm Mind.

How to get TM05 - Roar in ORAS

Fly to Route 114 and head north until you see a Gentleman with a Poochyena. Interact with the Poochyena and the Gentleman will give you Roar.

How to get TM06 - Toxic in ORAS

Fly to Fiery Path and then enter the cave. Take the path to the west and use strength on the boulders. Take then north path from here to find a TM Ball containing Toxic.

Fly to Shoal Cave which is located northeast of Mossdeep City (must be low tide from 3-9 A.M. or P.M.). Enter the cave and navigate down a few floors until you reach a layer of ice. Navigate and slide around on the ice layers here and make your way to the northeast section to find Hail in a TM ball.

How to get TM08 - Bulk Up in ORAS

After completing the second gym in Dewford Town, Dewford Gym Leader Brawly will reward you with Bulk Up.

How to get TM09 - Venoshock in ORAS

Fly to Mauville City and enter the Mauville Pokémart. Speak to the second clerk here and you can purchase Venoshock for 10,000.

How to get TM10 - Hidden Power in ORAS

Fly to Fortree City and climb up to the northeast and enter the second treehouse. Speak to the lady on the left and answer "Right Hand", "Right Hand", and "Left Hand". She'll award you this TM for your Hidden Power!

How to get TM11 - Sunny Day in ORAS

Fly to Route 120 and surf southward until you can enter the large cave. Inside what is known as the Scorched Slab, you'll quickly come across a TM ball that contains Sunny Day.

How to get TM12 - Taunt in ORAS

Fly to Slateport City and head north onto Route 110. Enter the Trick House a bit to the north and examine the top of the desk to find The Trick Master. Navigate through his puzzle using cut and you'll find a variety of goodies along the way, and the end of the puzzle you can speak to The Trick Master again and he'll reward you with Taunt.

How to get TM13 - Ice Beam in ORAS

Fly to Sea Mauville, you'll also need surf and dive to complete the puzzles here. You'll find Ice Beam in a TM Ball in the Storage Room on the outside of the ship. You'll need to head inside the ship first and complete a small puzzle to get all the room keys to get access to the Storage Room. Talk to people and check rooms to get the keys.

How to get TM14 - Blizzard in ORAS

Fly to Lilycove City and enter the Lilycove Department Store. On the fourth floor you can speak to the clerk to purchase Blizzard for 30,000.

HOW TO GET TM15 - HYPER bEAM IN ORAS

Fly to Lilycove City and enter the Lilycove Department Store. On the fourth floor you can speak to the clerk to purchase Hyper Beam for 50,000.

You'll need both the Mach Bike and Surf. Fly to the Safari Zone (Route 121) and navigate to the far North by taking the western path. You'll need to surf across two small bodies of water to find the TM Ball containing Solar Beam.

During the story, you'll get Smack Down from Professor Cozmo when you reach Fallarbor Town.

How to get TM24 - Thunderbolt in ORAS

Visit Wattson in his apartment in Mauville Hills (second floor of Mauville City, you must first talk to him by the statue in town to get elevator access). His room is in the south hallway. He'll send you on a quest to New Mauville to restore some power. Head south of Mauville onto Route 110 and surf east to find New Mauville. Choose to press the button on the computer in the back room. Return to Wattson in Mauville Hills and he'll give you Thunderbolt for all of your troubles.

How to get TM25 - Thunder in ORAS

Fly to Lilycove City and enter the Lilycove Department Store. On the fourth floor you can speak to the clerk to purchase Thunder for 30,000.

Before catching Groudon or Kyogre in the main story line, make sure to pick up Earthquake in a TM Ball. It's on the bottom floor of Seafloor Cavern.

Fly to Route 114 and head northeast to enter the Fossil Maniac's house. Speak to his little brother here and he'll give you Dig.

Fly to Lilycove City and enter the Lilycove Department Store. On the fourth floor you can speak to the clerk to purchase Reflect for 10,000.

How to get TM34 - Sludge Wave in ORAS

Fly to Route 132 and surf to the south a little and enter around the center of the lower current. You'll hit an island with a Black Belt, stand next to the rock on the western tip of this island and let the current take you to a very small island with Sludge Wave in a TM Ball.

Fly to the Pokémon League and enter Victory Road from the north. Follow the bridges to past the Karate couple and go down a floor until you are in the dark. Navigate to the very east of this room and use strength on the boulders to clear a path to Flamethrower in a TM Ball.

How to get TM36 - Sludge Bomb in ORAS

Fly to Dewford Town and enter the house North of the Pokémon Center. Speak to the man in a backpack here and he'll give you Sludge Bomb.

Fly to Route 111 and head North to enter the desert (you'll need the Go-Goggles). Make your way to the southwestern tip of the desert to find Sandstorm in a TM Ball.

Fly to Route 133 and enter the current to the west of the island at the very top. On the island with three trainers, enter the current at the highest spot on the west side. Surf from the top of the next island you arrive at. Follow the spiral path in the rocks and grab Rock Slide from the TM Ball on the small island.

Fly to the Pokémon League and travel south through Victory Road. Cross the bridge and ascend the nearby Waterfall to find X-Scissor in a TM Ball at the summit.

Fly to the Safari Zone and enter it. You'll need both bikes and Surf to progress. Hop on your mach bike and make your way west and north up the first dirt slope and to the west of the second. Continue North and surf east across the body of water here. Head east up the next dirt slope and continue south through the tall grass until you can see Wild Charge in a TM Ball on an above platform. Use your Acro Bike to hop on the log and claim your prize.

You'll come across Secret Power during the story on Route 111. The man who introduces you to secret bases will also give you this TM so you can start making secret bases of your own.
