Chapter 3: Castelia Gym
Stolen Fossil
Right after defeating the Nacrene Gym, Hawes will rush in to let you know that Team Plasma is here and trying to steal some bones. Head back to the museum area and you'll find them. They sucessfully steal the head of the large fossil here. Head outside and the whole crew will show up to help look for Team Plasma and the stolen fossil. Bianca will also give you the Dowsing Machine as a gift from Fennel. This helps you search for hidden items.
Pinwheel Forest
Head west out of town into Pinwheel Forest. If you speak to the first guy on this path you'll get TM94 - Rock Smash. Just ahead you'll find Burgh who suggests that Team Plasma probably fled into the forest. You'll find a girl next to the forest entrance who will heal your team for you if you defeat her in battle first. If you head down the little path between the fence and the trees near her you can find a Ether.
There's a pretty large optional area to the south you can explore. There are a few more trainers you can battle if you'd like and a Great Ball to find. Even further south you'll find more trainers and a Super Potion and a Antidote to pick up. There's then a staircase that heads to the east and a couple more trainers on this upper area. There's then a final staircase that leads down to a Net Ball and a ledge that you can use to get back to the forest entrance.
Once you enter the forest proper you'll run into Burgh again who will suggest that you split up and look for clues. You'll be assigned the windy path to the west that's full of trainers. You'll first need to defeat a pair of twins and their Lv. 16 Sewaddles. Just ahead of that you'll run into a Team Plasma grunt who uses a Lv. 16 Sandile. After defeating them, another Team Plasma grunt is straight ahead and they have a Lv. 16 Purrloin. In the grass to the south of them you can find a Big Root.
Keep going west and you'll find an optional Pokémon Ranger to battle. Each Ranger in this area will give you a berry for winning. You can also pick up the nearby Super Potion. Defeat the youngster ahead and keep following this path west and then north. A hidden Pokémon Ranger will pop out to battle near where you can find a Antidote in a hollow trunk.
Head north through the hollow log and then follow the path back west. There's another Ranger to battle before heading east through another log. Here you'll find another Team Plasma Grunt with a Lv. 16 Patrat. Continue north through the next log and then start heading back east. You can find a Parlyz Heal along the way. In this area to the east you can find another Ranger to battle and TM86 - Grass Knot.
Continue north through another log and you'll find a final Team Plasma Grunt who uses two Lv. 14 Patrat and a Lv. 14 Sandile. Once you defeat them, they will give you the Dragon Skull. Afterward Gorm will show up, who is one of the Seven Sages of Team Plasma. He flees after giving you some more lore on Team Plasma and an ominous warning. You'll then return the Dragon Skull to Lenora and get a Moon Stone in return.
Exit this forest path to the east and pick up the Miracle Seed before the ledge. You'll be back on the straight road that cuts through the forest. There are a couple trainers to the south you can battle if you'd like. Then exit this road to the north and enter the route gate. You can speak to the Hiker in here to get a Quick Claw. Exit the gate and you'll find yourself on the long and narrow Skyarrow Bridge. This eventually leads to the largest city in Unova: Castelia City.
Castelia City
The city is built around a circular ring road with narrow roads leading towards the center and piers or docks to the south. If you head straight down to the first dock area you can speak to a man to get your choice of a Grass Stone, Fire Stone, or Water Stone. If you head clockwise around the main street you'll quickly find the Pokémon Center, so heal up if you need to.
The gym can be found on the final street, all the way to the left (clockwise around the circle). If you try to enter it Cheren will pop out and let you know that he made quick work of the gym. Leader Burgh will then show up and ask you to hold off on the gym, since Team Plasma have shown up once again. Head right (counter-clockwise) until you reach the sign that points you south to Prime Pier and head that way. Here you'll find that Team Plasma have once again stolen someone's Pokémon, and this time it's from Bianca!
A Team Plasma Grunt will then show up before quickly fleeing again. Follow them to the narrow road that the gym is on. Here you'll find a few grunts guarding a building and you'll need to defeat one of them. They have a Lv. 17 Sandile. After defeating them follow them into the building to confront Team Plasma. Ghetsis will give you some lore about the formation of Unova and a hint about what he's really after. They end up giving Bianca's Pokémon back without much resistance. Afterward you'll get a Yache Berry from Iris and you can pick up the Smoke Ball that was left behind.
Before taking on the gym, there's a few other goodies to pick up around the city if you'd like, they are all optional so skip ahead if you'd rather. In the Narrow Alley (second from the left) you can walk by a man in sunglasses and he'll give you TM70 - Flash. On Castelia Street (right of the Pokémon Center) you can enter the left building and get TM44 - Rest from a Hiker on the top floor.
In the northern most road leading out of the city, enter the first building on the right and go to the top floor (after being frisked by the bouncer). Speak to the gril in the blue dress to get TM45 - Attract. In the second building on the right you can get rewards from the scientist depending on how much of the Pokédex you have filled. The first is an Eviolite.
In the center area there is a dancer you can talk to who will ask you to find two other dancers for her. In the Narrow Alley (second from the left) you can find another dancer. You'll need to defeat them and their Lv. 21 Panpour to recruit them. The final dancer can be found on Unity Pier to the south of this and you can recruit them after defeating them and their Lv. 21 Pansear. Once you have recruited all three, speak to the dancer by the fountain and you'll get an Amulet Coin.
Castelia Gym
When you are ready, head over to Castelia Gym on the left-most street. This is a Bug-type gym, so Fire, Flying, and Rock types are your best bet. Speak to the guide to get a Fresh Water. The puzzle in this gym is honey-themed. You can walk straight through these honey walls if you push through them for a few seconds. Walk straight through the first one here and step on the first switch. You'll then need to battle Harlequin Jack, he uses a Lv. 20 Sewaddle, and a Lv. 20 Venipede. Then step on the next switch to open the gate.
Push through the honey wall that was revealed when the gate was opened. Avoid the switch straight ahead unless you want to battle against Harlequin Kerry and their Lv. 20 Sewaddle and Lv. 20 Dwebble. Press the switches to the right and left instead to reveal another honey wall. Past this is another switch to press to activate half of the final gate. Then press the switch on the far left, which opens another gate to the left.
Push through the honey wall below you into this next little section. You can skip the switch here if you'd like, if you press it you'll battle Harlequin Rick and his Lv. 21 Sewaddle. Push through the honey wall behind it and step on this switch to open the gate to your right. Push through the honey wall you just revealed and battle Harlequin Louis, who uses a Lv. 20 Venipede and a Lv. 20 Sewaddle. Then step on this switch to open the final gate.
Gym Leader Burgh
Past the final gate is a battle with Castelia Gym Leader Burgh. It's no surprise that he will also use Bug-type Pokémon. He has a Lv. 21 Whirlipede, a Lv. 21 Dwebble, and a Lv. 32 Leavanny. It's a good idea to bring along some Antidotes, as his Pokémon can poison you. He has two Hyper Potions that he will use if his Pokémon get low on health. If you chose Tepig as your starter, this gym should be particularly easy. The only thing to note is that Dwebble is part Rock-type, so it doesn't have a Fire or Flying type weakness.
After defeating Burgh, you will receive the Insect Badge, which means Pokémon up to Lv. 40 will obey you. He'll also give you TM76 - Struggle Bug.
