Chapter 2: Nacrene Gym
Dreamyard
After exiting Striaton Gym, you'll be introduced to Fennel who will show you to their room and give you HM01 - Cut. You can teach this to a Pokémon to use Cut outside of battle and remove small trees. Fennel also gives you the task of collecting some Dream Mist from the Pokémon Munna. Heal up your team and head to the Dreamyard east of town once again. You can now cut down the small tree here to access a new area. As soon as you do, Bianca will join you on your little quest.
Continue ahead and you'll catch a glimpse of Munna, but Team Plasma will soon show up. You'll need to defeat them in battle to stop them from "liberating" Munna. There are two Team Plasma Grunts, the first has a Lv. 10 Patrat and the second has a Lv. 10 Purrloin. After defeating them their leader will show up to tell them off and the grunts will flee. The Pokémon Musharna will also show up to rescue Munna, but will also leave behind a Dream Mist that Fennel will come and pick up.
There are a number of goodies you can pick up before leaving the Dreamyard. You can find a Poké Ball, a Potion, a Repel, and a Parlyz Heal. Afterward, head back to Fennel's house and she will thank you by giving you the C-Gear. This device appears on the bottom screen of your system and enables various Wifi-related features of the game. You'll also get the Pal Pad from Fennel's assistant, which serves as a friend list.
Route 3
With the gym badge in hand and Fennel's quest complete, we can now leave the city to the west. If you head south accross the small bridge here you can find a Great Ball. You can then exit this garden to the north to reach Route 3. You'll quickly find the Day Care here, where you can leave Pokémon to level up or breed. There are a number of trainers you can battle in the playground here if you are okay with bullying preschoolers. You can enter the preschool building here to have your team healed as well.
Continue west on the route where you'll have your first double battle. Shortly after Cheren will catch up and challenge you to a rival battle. He will use a Lv. 14 starter and a Lv. 12 Purrloin. With your Pansage, Pansear, or Panpour in hand, this battle should be a little easier than last time. After defeating him, a few Team Plasma grunts will charge by with Bianca and a little girl in pursuit. They took the little girl's Pokémon, so Cheren and yourself will volunteer to get it back.
Heal up if you need and pick up the nearby Super Potion in the grass. Continue ahead and you'll find Cheren standing outside a cave. Follow him into it and you'll find the two Team Plasma grunts. You'll need to defeat one who has a Lv. 12 Patrat. Another set of grunts will show up and you'll need to defeat them in a double battle alongside Cheren. They have one Lv. 12 Patrat each. After defeating this set of grunts they will return the stolen Pokémon and Cheren will bring it back to the little girl.
While in the cave you can walk around the ledge here and pick up TM46 - Thief. If you enter the tall grass near here you can find a trainer to battle and pick up a Repel. Return to Bianca and the little girl and she'll give you some Heal Balls as a thank you. Heal up if you need to, then continue south from here.
There's another trainer to battle straight away and an Antidote to find in the tall grass. You'll find Cheren a little further ahead and he'll tell you about the dark tall grass, where you can sometimes find wild double battles. There's another optional battle ahead and then you can start heading west along the bridge. There's some more battles here and an Awakening on the other side of the bridge. Continue past one more trainer to exit this route into the next city.
Nacrene City
As soon as you arrive into town Cheren will greet you and give you 3 Chesto Berries. Heal up if you need to and then head to the warehouse on the far left. Inside a lady will give you an item to boost the type of your starter Pokémon. If you try to enter the Narcene Gym, you will be stopped by the mysterious N. He will challenge you to a battle using a Lv. 13 Pidove, a Lv. 13 Tympole, and a Lv. 13 Timburr. After you defeat him he'll walk away speaking about more mysterious things, including mentioning the titular legendary for the first time, either Reshiram or Zekrom.
When you try to enter the gym, you'll find that you are actually in a museum. The museum director Hawes will give you a tour. As it turns out, the gym is actually in the next room at the back of the museum. This is a Normal-type gym and the leader has a Lv. 20 Pokémon, so you may need to train a bit before you're ready to take it on. If you want a Fighting-type Pokémon to get the type advantage, you can venture ahead into Pinwheel Forest.
Nacrene Gym
When you enter the gym the guide will give you a Fresh Water. The puzzle in this gym is to answer questions that you find hidden in books. The first trainer to beat here is School Kid Carter and his Lv. 17 Patrat. Afterward check the left bookshelf straight ahead and read "Nice to Meet You, Pokémon". Next check the bookshelf directly behind this one for the book on Patrat. Next check out the bookshelf directly behind this one for the book on locomotives. You'll first need to defeat Scientist Satomi and her Lv. 17 Herdier.
After reading the locomotive book, head back close to the entrance and then check out the book on the shelf to the right about children's sweets. This will give you the final hint, pointing you to the bookshelf in the middle-right. You'll then need to battle School Kid Lydia. She uses three Lv. 15 Lillipup. After defeating her and reading a book a hidden staircase to the gym leader will be revealed. Heal up if you need and head on down.
Gym Leader Lenora
Here you can challenge Gym Leader Lenora, who of course uses Normal-type Pokémon. She has a Lv. 18 Herdier and a Lv. 20 Watchog. If you caught a Fighting-type or evolved Tepig you'll have some super effective options. But because it's a Normal-type gym thet type chart will play less of a role here, you should be able to use any team. Watchog knows Hypnosis and can put you to sleep, so watch out for that. She will also use a Super Potion if she can.
After defeating Lenora she will reward you with the Basic Badge. Traded Pokémon up to Lv. 30 will now obey you. She will also give you TM67 - Retaliate.
