Chapter 4: Nimbasa Gym
Route 4
As soon as you exit Castelia Gym, you'll get a call from Bianca on your Xtransceiver. She wants to meet you at the Route 4 gate for a battle. Heal up if you need to and then head that way. Route 4 is to the north of the city. Once you enter the gate Bianca will find you for the battle. She now has a Lv. 18 Herdier, a Lv. 18 Munna, a Lv. 18 Pansage/Pansear/Panpour, and a Lv. 20 Dewott/Servine/Pignite. Make sure to take the Munna out quickly, as it can heal itself with Moonlight and she also has a few Super Potions.
After winning this rival battle, continue ahead onto Route 4. This route features an ongoing sandstorm and many Ground-type Pokémon and trainers. It wouldn't be a bad idea to catch a Ground-type Pokémon for the upcoming Electric-type gym. You can find wild Pokémon in the darker patches of sand to the side of the road. Just off to the left of the road here is a house that you can heal up in, so you don't need to travel all the way back to the city. You can also grab an X Accuracy nearby.
It's completely optional, but if you continue all the way left here there's a couple fisherman that you can battle if you'd like. Further ahead to the left you can find a construction zone with a few trainers and several goodies to pick up including a Great Ball, a Hyper Potion, a hidden Ultra Ball, and TM41 - Torment.
Now head back to the main road and you'll find Cheren straight ahead. He'll of course want to battle. This time around he'll have a Lv. 20 Pidove, a Lv. 20 Liepard, a Lv. 20 Pansage/Pansear/Panpour, and a Lv. 22 Dewott/Servine/Pignite. After defeating Cheren the two of you will get an Xtransceiver call from Professor Juniper. She wants to meet up with you in Nimbasa City.
Continue ahead on the road into the sand. In this first open area there are several trainers you can battle and you can also find a Burn Heal, Ether, and Super Potion. You'll then come to a fork in the road. You can head north to exit the route and progress quickly, or head left to get some more experience and goodies first. Continue to the left defeating the trainers along the way. There is a house here and you can speak to one of the construction workers inside to get TM28 - Dig.
Desert Resort
Continue straight ahead to the Desert Resort. Continue through the sand and you'll eventually pass through a route gate and you'll find the ancient ruins of the Desert Resort. There is a Doctor here who will heal your team after you defeat him in battle. This is a large area with many trainers to battle and items to find. If you head left first, in addition to the numerous trainers to battle, you can find a Fire Stone, Stardust, TM39 - Rock Tomb.
Then start making your way north and you'll find several more trainers as well as BlackGlasses, Fresh Water, and a Super Potion. Speak to the man in sunglasses and he'll give you a Soft Sand, which could be quite useful for the next gym. You'll soon come across some proper ruins, and if you head to the left of them you can pick up a Heart Scale.
Relic Castle
Take the staircase down into the ruins to find yourself in the Relic Castle. This little dungeon is full of quick sand and Psychic trainers. The trainers in here can be quite tough, so make sure to utilize the nearby doctor to heal if you need to. You'll need to be careful on the quicksand to not run or walk in the center or you'll be dragged down. You can speak to the woman on this first floor and she'll give you a choice of two fossils: the Cover Fossil that turns into Tirtouga or the Plume Fossil that turns into Archen. You can bring either of these to the Nacrene Museum to have them regenerated into their respective Pokémon.
If you try to head down the stairs, a man will stop you since he hasn't cleared out the sand. You can use the quicksand to go down instead. You can find a Revive on this floor. You can then head back up the stairs to the first floor and exit this castle. That's all we can do here for now, so start backtracking along Route 4 until you can head north. Continue north through the gate and you'll find Professor Juniper and Cheren. The Professor will give you 10 Ultra Balls before leaving to find Bianca.
Nimbasa City
Continue north to enter Nimbasa City where you'll find some Team Plasma grunts harassing the Day Care worker. You'll need to defend him against this grunt who has a Lv. 18 Watchog and a Lv. 18 Trubbish. As a reward, he'll give you the Bicycle! You can use this to get around much faster. Afterward Bianca will show up and mention some things you can do around the city. You can find the Pokémon Center to the left, so use that to heal up if you need.
You can get a Sun Stone from a guy with blue hair on the second floor of the building north of the Pokémon Center. In the building directly to the left of this, you can speak to the blue haired boy on the first floor to get HM04 - Strength. You can also get a Soothe Bell from the old lady on the second floor of this building if your leading Pokémon has high enough friendship.
To the east of the Pokémon Center is the Battle Subway. If you try to enter it, a girl will come out and give you the Vs. Recorder that lets you record your battles. The Battle Subway let's you take part in series of battles that earn you BP while riding the train. None of these are important to the story, but it's a great way to get some rare items while taking part in more challenging battles.
If you head east you'll run into N again. He's apparently seen Team Plasma run into the Amusement Park, but when you he takes you there you can't seem to find them. He then invites you on a Ferris Wheel ride where he reveals that he is the King of Team Plasma! He'll then challenge you to a battle. He team includes a Lv. 22 Sandile, a Lv. 22 Darumaka, a Lv. 22 Scraggy, and a Lv. 22 Sigilyph. After you defeat him, he will vow to become the Pokémon League Champion so that he can reach his goal of freeing all Pokémon.
To the south of the Amusement Park you can pick up the X Attack by the bench. If you head back to the main area and go to the north street, you will see a row of stadiums. You can enter the sports stadiums and take the teleport pads to fight some various athletes in battles. There is a Tennis stadium and an American Football stadium and each have one optional trainer battle.
If you try to exit the city to the northwest, Bianca will stop you and take you to the Musical Theater. Here you will get the Prop Case from the man who runs the theater. This will allow you to dress up your Pokémon and have them participate in musicals. These musicals are completely optional, but you can pick up TM49 - Echoed Voice by speaking with the girl to the right of the counter. After exiting the theater, you'll find Bianca with her dad. He wants her to come back home but the gym leader Elesa shows up and convinces him otherwise.
Nimbasa Gym
That's all there is to do in Nimbasa City besides taking on the gym, so that's where you should head next. It's found next to the Amusement Park on the east side of town. It's an Electric-type gym, so Ground-type moves are the only thing super effective against it. There are many Emolga to fight in this gym, which is a dual Electric & Flying type. A Ground-type Pokémon that knows a Rock-type move (like the TM Rock Tomb you should have) is a great choice. Once you enter the buliding you can speak to the guide to get your customary Fresh Water.
If you take the first blue roller coaster you'll end up in front of Lady Magnolia and her Lv. 24 Emolga. You can then step on the switch to change the path of the blue coaster. This will lead you to another platform where you can battle Rich Boy Cody and his Lv. 25 Blitzle. Step on the yellow switch next, but when you try to get on the coaster you'll need to battle Rich Boy Rolan and his two Lv. 24 Blitzle.
On the next platform, press the purple switch and try to hop on the roller coaster, but you'll be stopped by Lady Colette who has a Lv. 25 Emolga. This orange line will then take you to the gym leader's platform. You can press the red switch here to go back to the beginning and heal first if you need to. But you'll need to navigate through the puzzle again if you do, minus beating all the trainers. When you are ready approach Elesa to battle her.
Gym Leader Elesa
Gym Leader Elesa specializes in Electric-type Pokémon. She has two Lv. 25 Emolga and a Lv. 27 Zebstrika. The main thing of note is that her two Emolga can not be hit with Ground-type moves. This is why a Ground-type that knows a Rock-type move is very useful. She also has two Hyper Potions that she will use if you give her the chance. Her Zebstrika is powerful, but very susceptible to a couple Ground-type hits.
After winning the battle you'll get the Bolt Badge, which ensures Pokémon up to Lv. 50 will obey you. She'll also give you a copy of her favorite move TM72 - Volt Switch. She also mentions that you won't be able to progress to the next city without her, so she'll meet you on Route 5 to help you out.
