Pokemon Black and White Legendary Pokemon

Our Pokémon Black and White Legendaries guide gives you all the information and strategy tips you need to capture all Legendary Pokémon in the Unova region. Here is some general strategy for catching legendary Pokémon in these games:

  • Always save before each encounter. If you fail to save and aren't able to catch the Pokémon, you'll need to rematch the elite four before the encounter resets.
  • Lower the Pokémon's HP until it is red and apply a status condition like Paralysis if possible. This will increase the catch rate of the Pokémon.
  • Because many legendaries reside in caves, Dusk Balls are often the best option. Throwing a Quick Ball on the first turn is not a bad idea and if the battle lasts for 10+ turns Timer Balls are a good option. If none of those apply, Ultra Balls are your best bet.
  • It's recommended that you don't use your Master Ball on the static legendary encounters, as they aren't too difficult to catch without it. You may want to use it on the one roaming legendary in your game, either Tornadus or Thundurus.
