Chapter 9: Pokemon League
Part 9: Pokemon League
Route 22
After exiting the gym, you'll be greeted by Blue who tells you to head to Victory Road. Heal up your team, and then head west from Viridian City onto Route 22. Take the lower path as far west as you can to get 5 Poke Balls. Take the upper path and you'll quickly run into your rival. He's got a Lv. 50 Pidgeot, a Lv. 50 Vileplume, a Lv. 50 Marowak, and a Lv. 51 Jolteon. After defeating him, follow the route over the cliffs and back north through the route gate.
Route 23
You'll find yourself on Route 23. Pick up the 3 Golden Razz Berries to your right. Two gates ahead you'll also find 3 Golden Nanab Berries in an Item Ball. Past the next gate you'll need to use Sea Skim. You'll find 3 Golden Pinap Berries to the left and an additional 5 Golden Razz Berries on the island through the next gate. Back on land, continue straight through the gates and you'll find 5 Golden Pinap Berries in some tall grass. Pass through the gate onto Victory Road.
Victory Road
Head to the right and push the block onto the switch, this will open up the path on higher ground here. Take the path and battle Ace Trainer Naomi. Head right to battle Coach Trainer Alemana who has a Lv. 49 Ditto. You'll get 10 candies for your partner Pokemon for winning. In this corner you'll need to make a choice to pick up the Leaf Stone to the left or TM56 - Stealth Rock on top. To get both, you'll need to exit the cave and re-enter to reset the boulders. Head back left, pushing the boulder to create a small shortcut. Defeat Ace Trainer Ronaldo and head up the ladder.
On the second floor, head south and push the boulder onto the switch. Head north and defeat Juggler Nelson. Continue forward and defeat Black Belt Daisuke. Head left afterward and pick up TM45 - Solar Beam. Defeat Tamer Vincent and grab the Full Restore near him. A little further along you can battle Juggler Gregory and pick up TM49 - Superpower in the corner here. Backtrack to the Juggler and go up the ladder.
Head right to defeat Ace Trainer George and pick up the Max Revive. Head left and speak to the police officer to have your team healed. South of here, pick up TM51 - Blizzard. Move the boulder to the switch by pushing it up first. Head down the ladder here.
Catching Moltres
Pick up the PP Up here. You'll now have the opportunity to catch the third legendary bird of the game, Moltres. Just like Articuno and Zapdos, you'll need to defeat it in battle in less than 5 minutes before you can catch it. Keep throwing Ultra Balls until you've caught Moltres.
Push the boulder down to create a shortcut and head back up the ladder. Wrap back around to the left and battle Ace Trainer Alexa and grab the Max Potion. Pick up the 5 Golden Nanab Berries and defeat Ace Trainer Caroline and Ace Trainer Colby. Push the boulder to the right down the hole and jump in after it. Push the boulder all the way to the left. Head to the right through the open gate and defeat Poke Maniac Dawson. Head up the ladder.
Pick up the Full Restore here. Speak to Coach Trainer Ryan to battle his Lv. 48 Primeape, a Lv. 48 Arcanine, a Lv. 48 Gyarados, and a Lv. 49 Tauros. As a reward for winning, you'll get TM39 - Outrage. Head down the ladder here to get back onto Route 23.
Pokemon League
Head forward to approach the Pokemon League. This is the final challenge of the game. Here you'll face the Elite Four and the Pokemon League Champion. If you lose to any of these trainers, you'll need to start from the beginning and you won't have an opportunity to heal after beginning. So heal up and purchase plenty of potions, revives, and status healers. Save your game and enter when you're ready.
Elite Four Lorelei
The first member of the Elite Four is Lorelei. She specializes in Ice-type Pokemon, so we recommend using a Fire, Fighting, or Rock type. Some of her Pokemon are also part Water-type, so an Electric-type isn't a bad choice either. She has a Lv. 51 Dewgong, a Lv. 51 Jynx, a Lv. 51 Cloyster, a Lv. 51 Slowbro, and a Lv. 52 Lapras. Something you'll want to watch out for in this battle is being frozen or put to sleep.
Elite Four Bruno
The second Elite Four member is Bruno. He uses Fighting-type Pokemon. Flying, Psychic, and Fairy are all super effective. He also has some Rock-types, so a Water-type is useful as well. He has a Lv. 52 Onix, a Lv. 52 Poliwrath, a Lv. 52 Hitmonlee, a Lv. 52 Hitmonchan, and a Lv. 53 Machamp.
Elite Four Agatha
The next member of the Elite Four is Agatha. She specializes in Ghost-type Pokemon. Ghost and Dark type are super effective, but using a Ghost type is risky since it works both ways. Normal and Fighting type moves won't work at all. However, using a Normal type Pokemon that knows other move types is a good idea, since you wont' be affected by any Ghost-type moves. She has a Lv. 53 Arbok, a Lv. 53 Gengar, a Lv. 53 Golbat, a Lv. 53 Weezing, and a Lv. 54 Gengar.
Elite Four Lance
The fourth and final member of the Elite Four is Lance. He uses Dragon-type Pokemon, which are weak to Ice, Fairy, and other Dragon-types. He has Rock and Fire types as well, so a Water-type isn't a bad secondary choice. He has a Lv. 54 Seadra, a Lv. 54 Aerodactyl, a Lv. 54 Gyarados, a Lv. 54 Charizard, and a Lv. 55 Dragonite.
Pokemon League Champion
The Pokemon League Champion is your rival. This is your final battle before beating the game. He doesn't specialize in any particular type, so you'll need a diverse team to win. He has a Lv. 56 Pidgeot, a Lv. 56 Vileplume, a Lv. 56 Slowbro, a Lv. 56 Rapidash, a Lv. 56 Marowak, and a Lv. 57 Jolteon.
After the battle, Professor Oak will congratulate you on your victory. He'll take you to the next room where you and your Pokemon will be recorded as the Indigo League Champions! Congrats, you've officially beat the game. Let the credits roll.
