Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Legendary Pokemon

Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire feature more obtainable Legendaries than any other Pokeémon game. This Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Legendary Pokemon guide will give you the strategy and information you need to catch every Legendary Pokemon in the game. This pages also gives you info on Type, Ability, Level, and Moveset for all of the ORAS Legendaries.

Tips for catching legendaries in ORAS:

Make sure to save before battling each Legendary so you can quickly reset and battle again if you accidentally KO it or run out of balls.
Lower each Legendary to red health and apply a status condition (sleep, paralysis, freezing) to have the highest chance of catching
Make sure you have a lot of high level Pokémon to take hits while your throwing ball as well as lower level Pokémon who won't One-hit KO to lower health on your team.
You can use Dusk Balls in place of Ultra Balls for any Legendaries in caves or while playing at night. They are cheaper and have a higher catch rate.
Try throwing Quick Balls for the first two turns of battle; you have a decent chance of quickly and easily catching Legendaries this way.
All legendary encounters will be reset each time you beat the elite four, so don't worry if you mess up and don't catch a Legendary the first time, you'll have another shot.

How to Catch Latios and Latias in ORAS

You'll be gifted Latios in Omega Ruby and Latias in Alpha Sapphire after completing the 5th gym in the story of ORAS, so you won't even have to worry about catching them. However, you can also get Latias in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire if you get ahold of an Eon Ticket through a distribution or Streetpass, and then you will need to catch it.

How to catch Latios in ORAS

How to catch Latios in Omega Ruby: After completing the 5th gym, head east onto Route 118. You'll soon be greeted by Steven and you'll both be surprised by Latias. Latios is in trouble, and Latias will allow you to soar to Southern Island to save it. Team Magma/Aqua will be at Southern Island trying to capture Latios and obtain it's Mega Stone. After defeating them Latios (with Latiosite) will join your party, and you'll return to Route 118. How to catch Latios in Alpha Sapphire: Speak to Norman in Petalburg Gym after receiving the Eon Ticket. He'll get you on the ferry to Southern Island. Latios will be waiting for you here. Weaken it and apply status conditions and keep throwing Ultra Balls until Latios is yours. You'll get the Soul Dew after catching Latios.

How to catch Groudon and Kyogre in ORAS

Groudon and Kyogre are the title legendaries of Hoenn and you'll need to catch them to advance with the story. Both will be in their primal forms and you can only catch Groudon in Omega Ruby and you can only catch Kyogre in Alpha Sapphire.

How to catch Groudon in Omega Ruby: After finding Groudon in Seafloor Cavern, make your way towards Sootopolis City. After receiving the Magma Suit you'll be prompted to head into the Cave of Origin. Make sure to save now. Follow the path that's spiralling down and you'll eventually reach Groudon who will revert to his Primal form. While you can use your Master Ball if you'd like, we recommend you save it and bring 2 Quick Balls ~30 Dusk/Ultra Balls and have Latios in your party. Only Lava Plume will have an affect on Latios, and it's not very effective. Get Groudon to the lowest health possible, being careful not to KO him (If you do, you'll need to reset your game). Groudon knows Rest, so he'll be healing himself a lot, but this also puts him to sleep. If you can lower his health enough while he's still asleep than catching him should be easier. Either way, repeat the process of lowering his health and throwing Ultra Balls until Groudon is caught.

How to catch Kyogre in Alpha Sapphire: Make your way for Sootopolis City after meeting Kyogre the first time in Seafloor Cavern. Enter the Cave of Origin after receiving the Aqua Suit. Make sure to save now. Follow the spiralling path to the bottom of the Cave of Origin where you'll find Primal Kyogre. We don't recommend using your Master Ball on the title legendary, there will be harder legendaries to catch later on, like Deoxys. Instead, throw 2 Quick Balls and ~30 Dusk/Ultra Balls if those don't work. Kyogre should be easier to catch than Groudon since it isn't capable of healing itself. Lower it's health being careful not to KO it (you'll have to reset your game to your last save point if you do) and throw Dusk/Ultra Balls until it's caught.

How to catch Rayquaza in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire: After arriving at Sky Pillar during the Delta Episode Zinnia will tell you pieces of Hoenn lore as you ascend the tower. Make sure to save here. At the top she will summon Rayquaza who you'll engage in the battle with. Throw a few Quick Balls and if you don't catch it lower it's health and throw some Ultra Balls until you have it captured. If you accidently KO Rayquaza will respawn and you'll have another chance, making Rayquaza one of the easiest legendaries to catch.

How to catch Deoxys in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire: Once you've caught Rayquaza and flown into space to break the meteor you'll find that Deoxys was at it's center controlling it. It's level 80 and can take out your new Rayquaza pretty easily. It also knows recover, so it'll continue to heal itself once you weaken it. Deoxys is a good canidate for your Master Ball, but it can be caught with Ultra Balls if you've got the perserverance and a high level team.

How to catch Regirock, Regice, and Registeel in ORAS

Regirock, Regice, and Registeel can only be obtained under very specific circumstances. Here's what you'll need for all three:

A Wailord on your team
A Relicanth on your team
A Pokémon with Surf
A Pokémon with Dive
A Pokémon with Strength
A Pokémon with Dig
A Pokémon with Fly

Fly to Route 133 and surf to the west, staying in the center of the currents. You'll come to an area with darker water where you can dive. Return to the surface after following the path here. Make sure Relicanth is the first Pokémon in your party and Wailord is the sixth. Read the Braille Inscription here and an earthquake opening up the path to each Regi will occur.

How to catch Regirock in ORAS

How to catch Regirock in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire: After following the steps above, head to the Desert Tomb in the south part of the desert on Route 111. Enter the cave and you'll notice some more braille inscriptions. They give instructions to move right twice, then down twice, then use Strength. Save now. A new path will open where the inscription was leading to Regirock. Lower his health and apply a status condition and then continue throwing Dusk Balls until Regirock is yours.

How to catch Regice in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire: After following the steps above, head to Route 105 and surf west until you find the Island Cave. Here you'll find another braille inscription that instructs you to wait for two turns of the clock. Don't touch any buttons on your 3DS for two minutes and a path will open up to Regice. Save now. Lower Regice's health and apply a status condition before throwing Dusk Balls until it is caught.

There is another braille inscription here that instructs you to use fly in the center of the room. After doing so a pathway to Registeel will be opened. Save now. To catch Registeel, lower it's health and apply a status condition and continue throwing Dusk Balls until it is caught.

How to catch Regigigas in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire: Before catching Regigigas, you'll need to have caught Regirock, Regice, and Registeel and have them in your party. You'll also need one of three items at random, depending on your save file. Speak to the girl in the northeasternmost home in Pacifidlog Town and listen to the context clues in her story to find out which of the three ice type items you'll need. The three items are: CasteliaCone (Purchased from girl in Mauville Hills or found in the Trick House) Never-Melt Ice (Found on a bottom floor of Shoal Cave near Mossdeep) Snoball (Can be purchased from the Battle Maison for 32 BP) The next step is to give a nickname to your Regice using the Name Rater in Slateport City. You can nickname it anything other than "Regice". Make sure you have all three Regis in your team with a nicknamed Regice holding one of the three items above (talk to the girl to find out which one) and then head to the Island Cave where you got Regice during the daytime. As long as you haven't reset your 3DS system clock in at least 24 hours (you will be banned from all time-based events for 1 day after resetting your clock) and it's daytime then Regigigas will appear and battle you. Simply lower it's health and applay a status condition before throwing Dusk Balls until it's caught.

How to catch Ho-oh and Lugia in ORAS

You'll be able to catch either Ho-oh or Lugia at Sea Mauville depending on the game you have. Ho-oh can be found in Omega Ruby and Lugia can be found in Alpha Sapphire.

How to catch HO-OH in ORAS

How to catch Ho-oh in Omega Ruby: Anytime after catching Groudon you can visit Sea Mauville which is north of Route 108. Navigate your way through to the basement and search for the hidden Scanner. After finding the Scanner you can take it to Captain Stern in Slateport who will give you the Clear Bell. Head back to Sea Mauville and follow the horizontal pillar rising off the deck of the ship and you'll see a portal. Save here. Interact with the portal to start your battle with Ho-oh. Lower it's health and apply a status condition and continue to throw Ultra Balls. Ho-oh will be holding the Sacred Ash.

How to catch LUGIA in ORAS

Return to Sea Mauville and make your way back to the basement to find a portal. Save before interacting with it. To catch Lugia, lower it's health and apply a status condition and continue to throw Ultra or Dive Balls.

How to catch Heatran in ORAS

How to catch Heatran in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire: Anytime after catching Groudon or Kyogre you can head over to the Scorched Slab near Fortree City and speak with Flannery to learn of a mysterious fire type to be found here, Heatran. Go down a floor and make your way north and you'll shortly come across a portal. Make sure to save before entering and starting your battle. Simply lower Hetran's health and apply a status condition and then throw Dusk Balls until Heatran is yours.

How to catch Raikou, Entei, and Suicune in ORAS

To catch Raikou, Entei, and Suicune you'll first need to follow the steps above to obtain either Lugia or Ho-oh. You don't need both of them. Which legendary dog you encounter in the Trackless Forest depends on which minute it is in the hour.

How to catch Cresselia in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire: Cresselia can be found and obtained on Crescent Isle, which is one of the random Daily Mirage Spots you can encounter while soaring in the Sky with Latios or Latias. Crescent Isle will be south of Evergrand City and will have a red sparkle over it, but it's availability is random so keep checking back daily. Once you get Crescent Isle save and then interact with the portal to battle Cresselia. Simply weaken it and apply a status condition before throwing Ultra Balls.

How to catch Palkia and Dialga in ORAS

You'll first need to follow the steps above to obtain Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf (you need all three). Palkia can only be found in Omega Ruby and Dialga can only be found in Alpha Sapphire.

To catch it you'll need to weaken it, apply a status condition, and then continue throwing Ultra Balls.

How to catch Virizion, Terrakion, and Cobalion in ORAS

You'll need to have at least three Pokémon with maximum Effort Values (EVs) on your team before you can catch these three Unova legendaries. You can use Super Training to quickly get your Pokémon to max EVs. Whether you can catch Virizion, Terrakion, or Cobalion is dependent on the day of the week.

In order to catch Reshiram or Zekrom you must first train one of your Pokémon to Level 100. Reshiram is only available in Omega Ruby and Zekrom is only available in Alpha Sapphire.

How to catch Kyurem in ORAS

How to catch Tornadus and Thundurus in ORAS

Before catching Tornadus or Thundurus you'll need a Castform from the Weather Institute. You'll only be able to get Tornadus in Omega Ruby and you'll only be able to get Thundurus in Alpha Sapphire.

How to catch Tornadus in ORAS

How to catch Tornadus in Omega Ruby: With Castform on your team, soar into the sky using the Eon Flute and you'll find a dark storm cloud floating above Fortree City. Save before entering this cloud and you'll start a battle with Tornadus. Make sure to weaken Tornadus and apply a status condition before throwing Ultra Balls.
