Chapter 4: Artazon Gym
South Province (Area Three)
Our next objective is to take on another gym for the Victory Road storyline. We'll be heading to Artazon Gym, which can be found to the east of Mesagoza. Make sure to set it as a destination on your map. We'll be starting from where we left off in the last chapter where we defeated the Stony Cliff Titan. Fly on over to South Province (Area Three) if you're not here already.
You'll want to keep following this dirt path to the east, you'll see signs for Artazon along the way. You'll come across a watchtower that if you scale you can find a copy of TM080 - Metronome. There is also an opportunity to catch a Gimmighoul up here. This is an interesting new Pokémon that you can only catch when you find it in chest form. There is also a roaming form that you might see, but it's not catchable. Instead, they give you coins that can be used to evolve Gimmighoul if you collect 999 of them. When you catch a Gimmighoul you get coins too, but the number varies based on RNG.
Just keep heading down this path, catching any Pokémon and battling any trainers that you'd like. Pretty soon you'll arrive in the town of Artazon. This is a quaint little city filled with flowers and greenery. You can do some exploring here if you want, but we're once again after the tall white building, the next gym.
Artazon Gym Test
Once you arrive in the gym, you'll once again run into Nemona. She'll say a few words and then give you 3 Ethers as a parting gift. Afterward, speak to the woman behind the counter. She'll get you started with the Gym Test, which is "Sunflora Hide-and-Seek". Exit the gym and head for the Sunflora Lawn, which is directly to your right as you exit the gym. Speak to the woman here to start the challenge.
You'll need to look for 10 Sunflora around the town. Note that these will be actual Sunflora Pokémon and the Sunflora statues won't count. You'll find the first three immediately behind you when you leave the lawn. Head back towards the gym a little along the stone path and you'll see number four to the right. For this Sunflora and some of the remaining ones you'll need to chase them down and defeat them in battle.
If you now turn south towards the pool you'll find the fifth Sunflora on the hopscotch court. Just ahead of this one in front of the vending machines is the sixth Sunflora. To the right of this in front of a food cart is the seventh Sunflora. Now head back to the gym like your going inside but instead walk on the concrete around to the back side. Here you'll find the eighth Sunflora sleeping on a pot. Turn around facing south and head to the little jungle gym. You'll find the ninth Sunflora behind one of the walls here.
Finally, head towards the entrance of town with the two rows of buildings. Near the Sunflora statues here you'll find the final Sunflora. This is another one you'll need to chase down and battle. With all ten Sunflora in hand, head back towards the Sunflora Lawn near the gym. Once you bring them back, the Gym Test will be complete. You can now head back to the gym to battle the Gym Leader.
Artazon Gym Leader Brassius
Gym Leader Brassius specializes in Grass-type Pokémon. As such, you'll want to make sure you have a strong Fire, Poison, Flying, or Bug-type at your side. Something around level 20 should do the trick. Those who chose Fuecoco as a starter should be able to cruise through this battle. Brassius will use a Lv. 16 Petilil, a Lv. 16 Smoliv, and a Lv. 17 Sudowoodo. Sudowoodo is not normally a Grass-type, but he will Terastallize it and it has a Grass Tera Type. Doesn't that ruin Sudowoodo's disguise? Anyway, just treat it like you would any other Grass-type and remember that you can Terastallize yourself as well.
After you win the battle, you will receive the Grass Badge. Pokémon up to Lv. 30 will now obey you. You'll also receive a copy of TM020 - Trailblaze. Once you go to exit the gym, you'll be stopped by a man named Hassel. He turns out to be a member of the Elite Four. He gives you some motivating and slightly threatening advice and then leaves. With two badges in hand, we'll look to take on another Titan Pokémon next.
